If the equipment you need is not listed, ask. The question is whether it has a clear business use and a sensible working life, not whether it fits a category.

Finance for used plant and heavy machinery

Used excavators, telehandlers, loaders and other construction machinery may be financed where the asset, supplier and remaining working life meet lender requirements.

Used plant and machinery

Share the make, model, year, hours, condition, service history, warranty and supplier details so the asset can be assessed properly.

Heavy machinery leasing

Leasing can spread the cost around the expected use of the machine. Hire purchase may suit equipment the business intends to own.

Plant hire companies

Finance may support a replacement machine, additions to a hire fleet or several assets under one proposal, depending on lender requirements.

Applying for construction equipment finance

The lender needs to understand the plant, the supplier and how it will earn across the term.

Define the machine and attachments

Model, age, hours, buckets, breakers, delivery and warranty all belong in the quote.

Match term to working life

We compare lenders that understand plant values, contract work and seasonal cash flow.

Confirm delivery to site

The supplier is paid once the machine, invoice and delivery are confirmed, ready for the next job.

Before you order: equipment checklist

What should the equipment quote include?

Ask for the make, model, age, hours and price, plus any attachments, transport and warranty. For used machinery, include the condition and available service history.

Will it be ready for the next job?

Confirm delivery, site access, attachments and operator requirements with your supplier. Tell us your required date and any supplier payment deadlines at the outset.

Replacing an asset or releasing funds?

If you are part-exchanging equipment or exploring refinance, tell us what you already own and whether finance is outstanding. This helps frame the right conversation.

Construction finance calculator

Plant finance is shaped by the machine as much as the business: make, model, age, hours, attachments, supplier and expected working life all affect the lender route.

We compare lenders that understand used values, contract work and seasonal cash flow, then set the deposit and term against how long the equipment should keep earning.

Offer finance to your customers

A mini excavator or a new attachment is a five figure decision. The moment a customer hesitates, embedded finance turns that hesitation into a signed order, without you chasing paperwork or explaining rates you didn't set.

Quotes and applications

Your customer sets their own term and deposit on a £35k mini excavator, then pushes the quote to proposal themselves. No back and forth over price.

Decisions and documents

Auto acceptance and e-sign mean a groundworks contractor can be approved before they're back on site. No calls, no chasing signatures.

Application updates

See when an agreement is ending and what a customer could borrow next, useful when it's time to upgrade them to a bigger machine or add an attachment.

Construction equipment finance FAQs

Straight answers on used equipment, attachments, trading history and what can be included.

Still have questions?
Can I finance used or refurbished construction equipment?

Potentially. Lenders assess the machine's age, hours, condition, service history, supplier, warranty, value and remaining working life. Share these details before committing to the purchase.

Can I fund a full fleet rather than one machine?

Potentially. A proposal may cover several machines and attachments, although the structure depends on the assets, supplier, amount and lender requirements.

Do I need to have been trading for a certain time?

Lender appetite varies. Established businesses usually have more options. Younger businesses may be asked for a larger deposit, director support, forecasts or evidence of relevant experience.

Can I add equipment to an agreement later?

Additional equipment would normally require a new proposal or agreement. Where several purchases are planned, tell us early so the finance can be considered together.

What happens if I move sites or a contract ends?

Moving equipment between jobs is common, but the agreement and insurance requirements still apply. Tell the lender or broker about material changes so records remain accurate.

Can attachments and delivery be included?

They may be included where they appear on the supplier invoice. Availability depends on the lender, asset and how the supplier structures the purchase.

Is a service and maintenance package worth financing?

Ask for service and maintenance costs to be shown separately. Whether they can be included depends on the lender and how the supplier invoices them.

Can plant hire companies finance machinery?

Potentially. Finance may support a replacement machine, an addition to a hire fleet or several assets under one proposal. The available structure depends on the business, assets and lender.
